- Add the ground beef to the pot, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned and cooked through.
- Stir in the chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper, and cook for another 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Add the diced tomatoes and kidney beans to the pot, along with their juices. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Taste the chili and adjust seasoning if needed.
- Serve hot with optional toppings such as shredded cheese, sour cream, or chopped green onions.
